TODAY, I AM Motivated
Ryan,
U.S. MARINE CORPS VETERAN
I want to be able to — if those feelings pop up — calm things down, stay focused.
Driven by the desire to be a positive force in his family’s life, Ryan sought mental health treatment when he realized his untreated symptoms were holding him back.
What Made the Difference
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a form of talk therapy that teaches people to reroute their negative thought patterns to improve their mental health. Many Veterans have found CBT effective in helping them process their experiences and recover.
Anger Management
Some Veterans may be more likely to feel anger in everyday situations after they experience a traumatic event during military service. Anger management strategies help Veterans prevent outbursts and other negative situations.
Family Support
Mental health challenges can affect the whole family. That’s one reason it’s important for family members to support each other before, during and after treatment.
